“1st Mount Everest GCS International Open Poomsae Championship-2022” is being held in Pokhara from 22nd September 2022 and It’s Organized by Nepal Taekwondo Association organizes. The competition will be held in the multi-purpose covered hall at Pokhara Stadium till 25th September 2022.
Jagan Gurung, secretary of the original organizing committee, informed that 1,425 players from 13 countries have come to Pokhara to participate in this competition. According to his speech, such a large number of participants for a single game is the first in the history of Nepali sports. In this competition, there will be competition in different age groups for seniors and juniors.
The organizer of the Nepal Taekwondo Association informed that in the competition, women and men from 14 years to 60 years old would compete in eight weight groups. For Poomsae, singles, pairs, and groups from 14 to 60 years old will compete.
To participate in this tournament, the Bangladesh Taekwondo Poomsae Team was going to Nepal on 21st September 2022 and it’s made up of 23 members. In this tournament, the Bangladesh Taekwondo Poomsae Team achieved 6 medals in different events in different categories such as 1 Gold, 2 Silver, and 3 Bronze successively. Where achieved those of different ages that ’01 Gold Medal gained by Zafrin Rahaman Aourora and Arib Zia in the twice event together in (09-12) ages category, 01 Silver Medal gained by Ujjal Kumar Deb and Rumkee Siddiqua in the twice event together in (30-40) ages category, another 01 Silver Medal gained by Fathiya Tayyibah, Zafrin Rahaman Aourora and Sanvi Hossain in the team wise event in (09-12) ages category, and on the other hand, 01 Bronze Medal gained by Epsita Kundu, Areta Khandoker and Tasnia Iffat Sneha in the team wise event in (14-18) ages category, in (12-14) ages category, Shahamat Sayfan Ahnaf gained 01 Bronze medal in his individual event, and in (12-14) ages category, Nafisa Rumman gained 01 Bronze Medal in her individual female event. After successfully completing this tournament, the Bangladesh Taekwondo Poomsae Team came back on the 25th of September 2022 via Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at 2 pm.
